“IFFI 2024: Goa Gears Up for a Dazzling Celebration of Cinema and Culture”

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to unfold from November 20 to 28, 2024, in the picturesque state of Goa, promising an unforgettable cinematic and cultural extravaganza. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, NFDC, and the Government of Goa through ESG, this year’s festival shines the spotlight on young filmmakers, innovative storytelling, and regional heritage.

In a press conference, Goa’s Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, announced a spectacular lineup of events, including the much-anticipated IFFI Parade on November 22. The parade will feature sky lantern competitions along the route from ESG’s office to Kala Academy, blending cinematic celebration with visual enchantment. Free transport facilities and the addition of six new screens will make the festival more accessible than ever.

With 180 international films from 81 countries and a special segment dedicated to Goan cinema, showcasing 14 local films, IFFI 2024 emphasizes diversity and local talent. The Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT) competition has received a record 1,032 entries, reflecting a renewed focus on young filmmakers.

The festival will also host an Australian Film Pavilion in the Film Bazaar and welcome renowned personalities, including Vidhu Vinod Chopra, A.R. Rahman, R. Madhavan, and Bhumi Pednekar.
